Operating Model at PA

Our Op Model team work across industries to create lasting change by applying insight, innovation and ingenuity to our clients most complex problems. As a consultant you will work collaboratively with a diverse team of experts to support clients to design strategies, operating structures and solutions that address their most pressing challenges. You will have the opportunity to deliver projects that require a wide range of skills, from business and organisational design, to developing technology strategies and their corresponding architectures.

Op Model Makes a Difference

Working at the forefront of the UK Government’s Space Strategy, our Operating Model team designed the UK regulator for space flight. The team developed everything from the regulatory strategy to the underpinning business capabilities that enable an effective regulator, paving the way for the first civil launches in the UK.

The team have also recently worked with a global pharma company, supporting their Commercial Quality organisation to transform their operating model to go beyond compliance and become a steward for quality. We utilised our industry leading Business Design approach to provide a robust framework to design the required organisational structure, including key roles and responsibilities, indicative team size, required capabilities and future governance requirements to help the client meet their strategic ambitions.


To rise to the challenge, successful Operating Model Consultants will be able to apply design thinking to help resolve a range of abstract and complex challenges. You will have strong analytical skills, but also be able to apply more creative and abstract thinking to help develop ingenious solutions. As a client facing role, you will be expected to engage and present to clients, and therefore will be a strong communicator (verbal and written), being able to communicate recommendations and insights from operations to C-suite level.

You will possess a minimum of 2 years’ experience which will include one or more of the following:

  • Helping organisations & leadership teams shape business strategy and design organisational structures
  • Analysing what an organisation’s customers/users want
  • Understanding how technology can help make an organisation more effective
  • Analysing and solving problems using a data-driven approach

Other desirable skills include:

  • Conversant in both business and technology architecture concepts
  • Being familiar with enterprise operating model concepts
  • Comfortable working in a collaborative way with clients and multi-disciplinary teams
  • Confident working independently as the day-to-day client point of contact
