It is recognised by global advisory firms ISG and HfS as a market leader in the provision of next generation Application Development & Maintenance (ADM) services to help clients deliver their Digital Transformation strategies.

The focus of your role
The role will involve providing DBA operational support and minor enhancements. You may be expected to lead more junior resources and provide all aspects of technical systems support including setting up support procedures and implementing support best practices.

The candidate is expected to be able to work independently and as part of a team, being able to demonstrate an ability to develop other colleagues.

Your role

Providing operational DBA support and technical consultancy in areas including, but not restricted to, the following:

• Supporting the operation of the client’s multiple Ingres database instances, including minor enhancements and ensuring production database changes are reflected in DEV/UAT databases
• Providing KT/assistance to 2nd line support team on database issues
• Supporting the custom database data distribution solution
• Taking part in a 24x7 3-person 3rd line on-call support rota
• Linux shell scripting Bash/Korn and maintain applications/scripts written in Bash/Bourne shell
• Providing 3rd line support for the client’s application universe
• Supporting universe application running on HPUX then on Linux following a platform migration
• C development of enhancements to the universe application
• Ingres development of enhancements to the universe ABF Screens

Your profile

• Strong Ingres, Linux and C background
• At least 5 years’ experience of Ingres DBA support
• Strong problem-solving skills
• Client-facing experience
• Excellent all-round general IT skills
• Experience of working in a ITIL compliant Support environment
• A positive, can-do attitude
• Able to travel to client locations
