Hybrid Strategy

Our hybrid strategy team’s mission is to embed strategic thinking to our user-centred design process. We amplify the impact of our design and innovation practice by ensuring that the things we build are market ready. Put simply, we treat strategy as a creative act working out what should be, and then working backwards to decide how it can be.

This team has strategic methods critical to frog’s disruptive projects such as ethnographic research, insight generation, business planning and business model development, and GTM planning.

It leads on a number of key transversal frog offerings such as Venture Design, Org Design, Future casting and Sustainable Business Model Transformation. Team members from Hybrid Strategy embed into wider cross-functional programmes to bring these strategic overlays to our work.

Leading our Hybrid Strategy practice

This is a leadership role at frog. You are expected to help frog grow the Hybrid Strategy proposition, its reputation, and its business and people through building the practice, building the business, and through leading outstanding programmes.

You will generate £2M in sales, hire new leads into the practice, and will partner with our wider organisation to work with our clients to evangelise how this team can impact their problems.

With this role, we’re looking to augment the superpower we have within the team with a focus on Venture Design and Corporate Venture building.

Detailed Description

Your people responsibilities include recruiting, mentoring, motivating, and retaining a team of strategists. You will train them in strategy techniques and methods, such as business model development, financial modelling, product portfolio planning, product-market fit, organisational design, go-to-market planning, trend analysis, and customer/market research. You will nurture strategists in their frog careers, and actively help build an inclusive studio culture that allows your team to do their best work.

Your sales responsibilities involve working closely with our clients to understand their needs, and then define consulting engagement to help them. You will lead pitch meetings where you present all of frog’s capabilities and negotiate project scope and fees. You will be a trusted advisor to a network of client executives and maintain those relationships beyond immediate projects. You will research, publish, and speak in public forum on topics related to frog’s work, such as innovation, product strategy, venture building and trends in order to drive interest in frog.

You will contribute to project delivery, either as the engagement leader on major programs or by offering industry insights and innovative ideas to engagement teams. This involves guiding teams of strategists, designers, technologists, and program managers and critiquing their work to drive high quality output.

We ideally want you to have:

  • A wealth of experience in one or more areas of the product development lifecycle – user research, envisioning new solutions, market validation, business modelling, requirements definition, architecture definition, design, implementation, and go-to-market strategies.
  • Entrepreneurial or corporate venture experience // Experience as a start up founder or a corporate venture leader
  • Experience working in a creative environment with designers, and an interest in human centred design (sometimes called design thinking)
  • Knowledge of qualitative and quantitative research methods, blending multiple methods to develop holistic insights
  • Experience in structuring and selling consulting engagements
  • A track record of building teams and motivating strategists, designers, and technologists to do great work
  • Authentic and confident presentation and communication skills
  • A willingness to travel for project delivery and client meetings
  • Business level ability in English

It would be a bonus if you had:

  • Strong product strategy skills and a toolkit of frameworks and approaches to product/service development
  • A history of bringing products, services and experiences to market
  • Published thought leadership, with a track record of presenting and teaching in public forums and a social media presence
  • A second language (and every additional language is a plus!)
