
Performance-ballistics Engineer

Interact with Systems Design teams to gather all necessary data, understand design intent and drivers -
Set up flight performance models in typical systems simulation environment (Matlab-Simulink) with appropriate level of fidelity/idealisation -
Run simulations for different scenarios, as well as parametric or trade studies -
Perform analysis of results, extracting main trends like sensitivity to design parameters -
Communicate/discuss results and findings during technical reviews -
Write technical reports describing modelling approach -
Report progress status internally and externally
Essential
-
Must hold, or be eligible for, UK government security clearance -
Experience of working in the Defence industry -
Background in Mechanical and/or Aerospace Engineering -
Knowledge and experience in six degrees-of-freedom approach to rigid body motion laws -
Proficient in modelling and simulation environments, Matlab/Simulink in particular -
Knowledge and experience in flight performance and ballistics -
Ability to work in a collaborative, multi-discipline environment to support client needs -
Effective oral and written communication as well as influencing and stakeholder management skills
Desirable

Experience of complex guided weapons systems and supporting technologies -
Experience of scripting/programming for modelling & simulation -
Chartered Engineer status, or the desire to work towards it
