Job Description & Summary

As part of the PwC Consulting team you will have the opportunity to work with like-minded, high performing individuals, as well as collaborating with colleagues from the wider PwC team and global PwC network.

We are looking for an experienced Manager to join our Operational Excellence Advisory team. The role will be based in PwC’s offices in Spencer Dock, Dublin 1, however, due to the nature of client service, travel (including international) may be required.

A career within our Operational Excellence team, will provide you with the opportunity to help organisations who are facing challenges to be operationally excellent against an ever changing, disruptive operational landscape. 

You will be part of a team who will help design and implement our operational excellence digital enablers, such as Process Intelligence, Performance Analysis, and Intelligent Automation. 

Our Operational Excellence team is flexible, and dynamic using a range of business solutions to generate insights and help solve our clients’ problems by connecting the dots between people, processes, and technology. We are innovators who create the framework for organisations to focus on growth and value streams, and we promote continuous improvement methodologies which help our clients execute their strategy better than their competitors!

We design and implement optimum business and operational processes, adopting and utilising proven approaches and methodologies, such as Lean and Six Sigma. Operational Excellence essential skills required

  • 5+ years total experience – including consulting experience from a professional service, advisory or internal consulting environment

  • Strong background in the Operations or Operational Excellence – demonstrating skills and experience in client-facing operational transformation programmes, such as understanding of strategic business objectives, including process, organisation, and technology change.

  • Skills in defining the project/problem scope, business requirements analysis by formulating an approach and identifying stakeholders

  • Business analysis and solution development - demonstrate the ability to drive a strategy execution by designing new business models; streamlining and reengineering existing business processes and providing support to change management.

  • Data capture and gap analysis – through a process, system and people focus, mapping out a clear picture of what needs to be done, adopting, and employing the most appropriate methodologies and approaches (e.g. data mining to identify issues and challenges with As-is processes) to identify issues and challenges 

  • Business process mapping and modelling; demonstrating skills in modelling tools supporting for example BPMN (Business Process Model and Notation), or UML (Unified Modeling Language) to define requirements, document workflows and data flows, associated documentation (e.g. RACI) for optimised processes and automated solutions.  Strong knowledge of business process design, improvement, and management (BPR, BPI, BPM) concepts and approaches.

  • Effectively identifying process improvement opportunities; creatively developing approaches for business problem solving and ability to evaluate the trade-offs between business value drivers and costs.

  • Understanding of business and operational KPIs and metrics, that will facilitate change implementation and realise, and measure expected benefits

  • Lean Management and standardised industry-recognised methodologies – demonstrate skills in identifying opportunities to release capacity and increase operational efficiencies, removal of waste and errors etc. (SIPOC, TIMWOODS, FISHBONE) to promote innovation in process design

  • Demonstrate a mindset capable of both strategic and operational thinking - i.e. to focus on the big picture (such as corporate vision and business strategy) as well as the attention to detail. 

  • Excellent understanding of leading business practice

  • Adaptable and with an innovative approach to their work

  • Can effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing, with different audiences

  • Excellent Excel, PowerPoint and report writing skills

Operational Excellence essential experience required

  • Experience of working in the Operations/ Operational Excellence space and products/platforms/functional areas

  • Experience with Operational Excellence design, business process optimisation, organisational and technology transformation

  • Demonstrable consulting leadership through business analysis, scoping, managing, delivering strategic and complex operational change projects 

  • Project/programme management experience leading projects to deliver results for clients within agreed deadlines and budgets

  • Driving and leading engagements and discussion (e.g. workshops) with clients to elicit data capture and identify process improvements using a range of best practice tools & methodologies

  • Business process modelling and simulation using either digital innovators, accelerators or traditional processing modelling techniques

  • Experience in managing teams of resources on multiple assignments running simultaneously

  • Continually managing client and internal stakeholder expectations

  • Overseeing and delivering formal and informal reports and presentations

  • Leading, preparing and presenting compelling proposals for new client work

  • Coaching and mentoring team members to achieve project and career objectives

  • Recruiting talented professionals to grow the team

  • Developing practical thought leadership articles and publications

Other experience – desirable  

  • A relevant primary or advanced degree e.g. business, engineering, MBA or equivalent

  • Lean Six Sigma Certification (e.g. Green Belt, Black Belt)
