About the role :

FTI's Tax Depreciation team provide services to clients incurring capex throughout the lifecycle of capital assets acquired for their business purposes. Our client base consists of many household names ranging from investors, FTSE100 to private mid-market companies, across a wide variety of sectors.

The Corporate Finance Practice, of which the FTI tax team is a core business function, is seeking a Senior Consultant to support the senior Tax Depreciation team in providing capital allowance and wider tax depreciation services to the tax client base. Included in this will be support to:
  • Tax Depreciation team specific clients;
  • the Real Estate Tax group on tax compliance and transaction projects; and
  • other clients of the tax group.

You will be working with some of the most high-profile clients within FTI and will be encouraged to take the lead with the day-to-day relationships with clients. In addition, you will be developing managerial skills as you oversee and train junior members of the team. Therefore, at the outset you will take on a high level of responsibility, while being fully supported by the senior members of the capital allowances team and the wider tax group.

This role will enable you to further develop and expand upon the skills you have already acquired.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supporting the senior team with capital allowance reviews, tax compliance support and advisory projects
  • Taking ownership of the day-to-day relationship with certain clients
  • Liaising with other members of the tax team as required
  • Assisting with the evolution of best practice tools and templates to increase efficiency - working with our tax technology specialists
  • Supporting on real estate and infrastructure transactions from a capital allowances perspective
  • Delegating work to and managing the junior members of the tax team
  • Actively keeping up to date on technical matters and dealing with detailed technical queries raised, coordinating the preparation of practical, robustly supported advice
  • Taking ownership of projects in relation to WIP management and billing
  • Undertaking training both for clients and internally as required
  • Supporting the team's BD activities


Education and Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree (2.1) or equivalent
  • ATT, ACA, CTA or equivalent qualified
  • MRICS qualified (or working towards)


Experience, Skills and Competencies:
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience of tax with a focus on capital allowances
  • An excellent tax depreciation technical knowledge, relative to experience and understanding of construction technology
  • An ability to communicate (verbal and written) complex technical issues in a straightforward and practical way to tax and non-tax specialists
  • Strong analytical skills and an eye for detail
  • Experience of producing estimates of replacement costs
  • Outgoing and personable and able to integrate with a team and interact with colleagues of all grades
  • Ability to prioritise and manage a varied workload under pressure
  • Proven ability to take ownership of projects and come to decisions independently whilst being supported by the senior team
  • Demonstrable skills at building and maintaining relationships with colleagues within and outside tax teams
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
