About the Role

We are expanding our Data Science team within FTI's Corporate Finance & Restructuring practice, addressing the growing data and analytics needs of both internal and external clients. Whether it be analysis and predictive models to facilitate growth initiatives / cost reduction or using a more granular data driven forecast approach, there is a desire to use data more intelligently to increase business benefits.

As a consultancy firm, we look to drive improved business performance; as a data science team, we look for interesting and advanced ways to do this. Our data scientists employ advanced mathematics, statistics, and computer science (ML and algorithmic), together with industry knowledge to tackle business problem for our clients. The team is technologically agnostic and has experience across a number of different tools.

If you are someone who is interesting in applying technical solutions to practical business problems as well as leading projects with technical, talented people and a wide range of business professionals then we would love to meet you. You should have a pragmatic approach to problem-solving and be capable of developing solutions that clients can rely on in production.

What you'll do
  • Participate in varied data and analytics projects, from deep dive analysis and reporting to full model build, implementation and maintenance
  • Lead sections of a project; including managing a small team of data specialists, leading client engagements and managing project delivery
  • Participate in and shape business analysis activities to gather required requirements and inform data science and analytics solution design
  • Undertake data discovery, exploratory data analysis and feature engineering
  • Apply machine learning and simulation techniques to provide insight for our clients; e.g. Logistic Regression, Random Forest, Neural Networks, etc.
  • Develop and test data pipelines working alongside data engineering specialists
  • Work with client business leadership to ensure the commercial value from the analytics is realised
  • Partake in and shape analytics R&D work
  • Support business development activities and meet directly with clients
  • Mentor junior team members, provide coaching and support them in developing their careers

Required
  • Minimum 2.1 degree in Analytics, Data Mining, Mathematics, Economics, Computer Science, Information Management, Statistics or a related technical discipline
  • 5 years' previous development experience in Data Science/BI/Project environments
  • Experience in SQL, Python, R, Scala, Tensorflow, PySpark or equivalent data science technologies
  • Previous experience in a consultancy or similar client facing environment
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel
  • Excellent consultative, communication, presentation and management skills
  • Entitlement to work in Ireland and the UK


Desired
  • Highly motivated, with a proven ability to work both separately and as part of a team with professionals at all levels and of various disciplines
  • Passionate about client service excellence
  • Experience in DevOps
  • Knowledge of MLs framework e.g. Torch, TensorFlow
  • Experience with cloud technologies i.e. AWS/Azure
  • Industry experience in Insurance, Banking, Financial Services, Software or Telecommunications
