Role Background

Due to the growth of the business we require additional resource within our accounting team to help us maintain the accuracy of our records and meet our statutory requirements both in the UK and our European entities. For strategic and planning reasons, the legal structure is relatively complex and the European operations currently involve more than 50 separate legal entities of which approximately one half are registered in the UK including 9 UK Limited Liability Partnerships.

With numerous locations around Europe this role will work closely with our overseas accountants and will report to the Financial Accountant within our finance team of 36 based in the European Head Office in Moorgate, London.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting the Finance Manager, working alongside four Financial Accountants and three other assistant accountants on all financial accounting for the UK & European businesses

  • Assisting with the preparation and drafting of the statutory financial statements for subsidiary groups and companies in both the UK and other European countries the European entities and IFRS financial statements for the Middle East entity.

  • Preparing detailed schedules of management accounting data to enable the statutory financial statements to be presented in accordance with FRS102 and where appropriate local regulations and to generate detailed disclosures for statutory reporting purposes, tax analysis and reporting to individual LLP members.

  • Assisting with the monthly close, to global deadlines

  • Prepare intercompany reconciliations and invoices

  • Complete monthly balance sheet reconciliations and comment on outstanding balances

  • Liaising with Accounts Payable and Billing Teams to ensure that costs are correctly allocated to each business unit within and between regions

  • Preparing data for foreign and UK VAT returns

  • Looking for efficiencies within the department (Billing, AP, General ledgers)

  • Assistance with Ad-hoc Projects as and when required

Skills and qualifications

  • AAT qualified accountant studying or having a willingness to study towards the CIMA/ACCA qualification

  • Previous experience of an international multi-site business with exposure to FX transactions

  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel

  • Professional services experience would be desirable

  • The candidate should be able to meet deadlines, be results orientated and have a “can do” attitude.

  • You will be a natural team player who can interact easily with your colleagues and have strong communication skills.
