Accenture Strategy’s UK Financial Services business shapes the future for insurers, brokers, banks, asset & wealth managers and exchanges. The outlook for these sectors is certainly challenging with Covid-19 disruption, regulatory scrutiny, margin pressure and the burden of legacy operating models and technology.  At the same time, stakeholders of all types expect new value to be delivered – value linked to sustainability and responsibility.  A ‘decade of action’ lies ahead with the leaders accelerating towards a model which is purpose-driven, operationally innovative and value-generating.

We are looking for motivated Managers & Consultants to support the growth of our practice. You can expect to be involved in a range of projects helping clients with Business and Operating Model change, Corporate Strategy, M&A, digital transformation, innovation and growth.

Your primary focus will be on Insurance clients, however, there will also be opportunities to build experience serving our Banking, Capital Markets and FinTech clients across the wider Financial Services portfolio.

In our team you will learn to:

  • Solve complex client business problems, bringing structure and quantitative and qualitative analysis techniques; acting and taking decisions with little management oversight

  • Lead definition of strategic direction, using analysis to address our clients’ business challenges and deliver lasting and distinctive outcomes and value

  • Develop knowledge of prevailing trends, financials and operating drivers; identifying industry specific operating and financial metrics to identify the key value drivers

  • Build and sustain trusted senior client relationships in the C-suite by remaining highly attuned to client needs and styles. Present key findings to C-suite clients

  • Develop and lead high performing Strategy teams, leading by example, actively mentoring others and contributing to performance management

  • Help run Accenture’s business (including cost management, contract management) contributing towards the evolution of Accenture’s Growth Strategy

  • Contribute to business development including opportunity identification/qualification and proposal development/presentation and support building the practice including developing offerings, assets, capabilities and thought leadership while engaging with the wider strategy community

In this role you will:

  • Lead successful strategy engagements addressing our clients’ business challenges, delivering lasting and distinctive outcomes and value in disciplines such as:

    • Corporate and Business Strategy

      • Helping our clients with “Go to market” strategy design, including portfolios and product offerings assessment, proposition development, divestment decisions, offerings expansion, booking model design and implementation

    • Operating Model Strategy and Transformation

      • Helping our clients to establish new mindsets and structures that drive long term value aligned to their strategic direction

    • Digital, data & AI transformation

      • Helping our clients navigate complex strategic choices on how digital can be used to reimagine their products, propositions, and customer experiences and how to establish modern technology, data and AI capabilities to extract near-term and sustainable value

    • Innovation and Growth

      • Solving for profitability and enterprise value by helping our clients to reimagine value chains and offerings that drive competitiveness and re-imagine the sectors that they participate in

  • Understand client issues and structure the problem in order to develop hypotheses around possible solutions; understand company’s key strategic/operational issues (market definition, industry trends, client issues)

  • Structure and create business/market assessments and utilize industry knowledge to be able to make implementation-oriented recommendations

  • Develop business cases to identify, measure and realise enterprise value

We are looking for experience in the following:

  • Experience at a top tier or boutique consulting firm or through an ‘in-house’ consulting / business development role (e.g. Group Strategy, Group Corporate Development), with a particular focus on:

    • Corporate and business strategy definition

    • Business model assessment, design and implementation

    • Operating model assessment, design and implementation

    • Digital, data & AI strategy

    • Specialist understanding across the Insurance value chain (e.g. Claims, Underwriting etc.)

  • Familiarity with recognized Strategy frameworks and techniques

  • Experience of research, quantitative analysis, structured problem solving and executive communication techniques

  • Experience of building relationships at all levels in an organization, including with Executives/Senior Executives

  • A good, broad understanding of how Insurance clients operate including products, players, value chains business models, operating models, industry trends and challenges and regulatory frameworks

  • A robust understanding of financial statements, the drivers of CoR, profit and shareholder returns

  • Experience leading diverse teams in complex strategy and consulting engagements, delivering high-quality output in short timeframes

  • Strong programme management experience

Academic Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent

Set yourself apart:

  • Ability to understand complex issues, quickly absorb information and work creatively

  • Quantitative skills required to develop financial/operational models and oversee data analysis

  • An appreciation of how technology and digital can contribute to solving clients’ complex business problems and experience of working with FinTech providers

  • Ability to quickly build effective teams, establish trust-based relationships and gain valuable insights through collaboration and communication

  • Experience with staff development and mentoring junior to mid-level practitioners

  • Presentation skills, personal impact and charisma to lead meetings, presentations and workshops

  • Confidence to articulate complex problems and solutions in a simple, logical and impactful manner with senior leadership teams

  • Exposure/involvement in sales origination and/or involvement with the commercial management of consulting engagements
