Director - International Campaigns and Issues Management


The Strategic Communications practice of FTI Consulting is one of the world's most highly regarded communications consultancies. We offer a broad base of disciplines across a variety of specialist sectors including financial services, retail and consumer, digital, natural resources, energy, public affairs, real estate, professional services, technology media telecoms (TMT) and life sciences.

FTI's London-based International Campaigns and Issues Management practice advises multinational organisations on international reputation management, across a range of communications disciplines. The team works with clients across Africa and the Middle East in particular, and across a range of sectors including financial services, FMCG, industrials, energy and natural resources and technology.

We are currently seeking a Director to join a growing team to manage and deliver international affairs and corporate reputation programmes on behalf of our clients, and help to contribute towards the practice's growth.


Deliver to clients
  • Lead the execution of clients' communications programmes, including both retained and project work.
  • Adept at developing and delivering both media relations and stakeholder engagement programmes.
  • Drive forward day-to-day client activity with limited senior supervision.
  • A proactive and creative thinker, continually bringing new ideas to client engagements and encouraging the team to think laterally and strategically around external developments relevant to clients.
  • Provide day-to-day communications advice to a diverse portfolio of clients, manage teams on a day-to-day basis and develop excellent relationships with clients.
  • Developing campaign strategies and content (messaging, op-eds, reactive press office materials) with limited senior oversight.
  • Manage issues and crisis communications situations, working with senior colleagues to provide strategic advice, and leading on the execution of proactive and reactive media and/or stakeholder relations programmes.

Team development
  • Share knowledge, insights and experience with colleagues.
  • Develop relationships across FTI.
  • Support in managing team processes and in the training / development of junior colleagues

Build the business
  • Manage and develop written new business proposals, RFP responses and pitch materials.
  • Proactively network with media, stakeholder and industry contacts, as well as potential clients.

Basic qualifications
  • 5 years experience in a consultancy environment, with a particular focus on global public affairs, international corporate communications and issues management
  • Educated to BA/BSc degree level or equivalent, 2:1 (or equivalent).
  • Experience working on complex issues and working with international organisations.

  • Excellent media and stakeholder relations skills.
  • Confident in advising on the use of new and established channels as part of integrated and impactful communications programmes.
  • Demonstrates energy and desire to provide exceptional client service.
  • Takes a pragmatic and 'can do' approach.
  • Ability to build strong rapport/relationships at all levels within FTI Consulting and client organisations.
