Job Description & Summary:
A role in Commercial operations will provide you with the opportunity to play a central role in managing the commercials for a rapidly growing and expanding Consulting practice.
You’ll focus on revenue and margin analysis, forecasting, billing investigation and reconciliation and reporting and monitoring. This is a busy, exciting and dynamic role for a twelve month period to cover for a person on maternity leave. You will report directly to the Commercial Director and operate within well managed operations processes.

What you’ll do

You will work as part of a team of operations & financial analysts, helping to drive operational excellence throughout the business. Responsibilities include but are not limited to;

  

  • Billing & Cash investigation & reconciliation
  • Forecasting and Commercial education
  • Revenue and Margin analysis
  • Reporting & monitoring


 

Billing & Cash investigating & reconciliation

  • Review bills for Consulting partners 

  • Investigate late billing and ensure all project managers adhere to the process and deadlines

  • Provide support to project managers with queries on billing

  • Track missing POs and bring to partners attention at monthly dashboard meeting

  • Follow up on aged debt to help resolve issues

  • Keep process documentation up to date 

Forecasting  & Commercial education

  • Budget  variance analysis

  • Support implementation of Project Forecasting tool

  • Deliver engagement economics education sessions

  • New joiners induction 


 

Revenue and Margin analysis

  • Review monthly revenue and margin reports and investigate unusual items 

  • Meeting with Consulting partners to discuss each client book and follow up on unbilled work

  • Support Partners, where required in completing their provisions each month

  • Analysis of engagement margin, review with individual project managers and follow up on remediation actions

  • Expenses - review monthly travel report and investigate non chargeable expenses 

Reporting & monitoring

  • Partner dashboard development 

  • Preparation of a suite of Consulting Strategic KPI management information reports in a timely and quality manner 

  • Process improvements - identify recommendations for improvements, implement, and update documentations across key areas

  • Support automation process to reduce admin

 What you’ll bring to this role

  • High level of accuracy, attention to detail and experience analysing financials 

  • Proficiency in google sheets or excel and google slides or powerpoint 

  • Strong client service focus in dealing with partners and staff at all levels across the business

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced and changing environment

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal

  • Good judgment and problem solving skills

  • An interest in upskilling for a digital world and technology trends, an openness to learning new tools and adapting how you work

  • Flexibility - to handle changing priorities and work-loads positively. You will be a self-starter demonstrating enthusiasm & commitment to work and be highly organised

  • Relationships - ability to build trusted relationships 

  • A demonstrated commitment to valuing differences and ensuring diverse perspectives are heard

  • Ability to work with Tableau and workflows in Alteryx or other data prep tools are desirable, but not essential

On the job training will be provided and the direct support and coaching from the Commercial Director.
