About the Role

We provide our clients with a comprehensive view of strategic communications that leverages our integrated suite of services, including financial communications, corporate reputation, transaction communications and public affairs in all the major markets around the world.

Our Consumer Industries team is the largest and most diverse of its kind in the UK. We build and protect reputational value for a wide range of UK and international organisations both within the consumer, FMCG, retail and leisure sectors but also across a number of other sectors, including foreign direct investment, aviation and automotive. You will be joining a fast-paced team which delivers both corporate and financial communications to its clients. You will need to be entrepreneurial, proactive and confident in being able to provide strategic advice and analysis, often at pace. We think holistically about those industry sectors in which we work and address media, influencer, political, analyst, investor and customer audiences from within our team.

We are currently seeking a Director with a mixture of financial and corporate communications experience to join a growing team of over 20 professionals in London. An interest in or experience of advising organisations on campaigning and media relations is required. Experience of advising companies on preparing for an IPO and/or M&A would also be an advantage.

What You'll Do

Deliver to Clients
  • Manage / support on the execution of communications programmes, including both retained and project work, ensuring that client programmes are agreed and project plans are implemented
  • Advise a portfolio of clients, and develop excellent relationships with client group
  • Help to run results days and other financial calendar events
  • Highly proactive approach to sourcing and creating client media opportunities
  • Draft client plans and proposals
  • Develop content ideas, showing strong insights into the news agenda
  • Write press releases, commentaries and statements to a high standard
  • Handle preparation and planning associated with client financial results
  • Support issues management, including drafting of Q&A statements
  • One of the main points of contact for client handling, offering counsel and insights - and managing often tight deadlines


Team Involvement
  • Media relationships across print, trade and broadcast outlets
  • Corporate finance and broking relationships
  • Sell-side analyst relationships
  • Share ideas and client information with the team
  • Share knowledge, insights and experience with colleagues
  • Develop relationships with other teams within FTI
  • Support in managing team processes and in the training / development of junior team members
  • Helps clients identify and escalate risks in order to act and communicate with integrity
  • Understands and lives by FTI's values, Code of Ethics and the Strategic Communications Rules of Practice, and works with junior staff to embed these concepts within the firm's culture. Basic Qualifications
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent 2:1 (or equivalent)
  • Strong media relations skills
  • Previous financial communications experience, ideally in consumer industries or related sectors
  • Experience in corporate communications/b2b
  • Excellent organisational and planning skills
  • Ability to work effectively within a busy team
  • Takes a pragmatic and 'can do' approach
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Previous experience in a PR agency role
  • Travel required to clients and to FTI office(s).
