An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Internal Communications Director for the EMEA region.
The role is responsible for creating, executing and deploying an engaging internal communications programme to complement and underpin the firm's overall business strategy across the EMEA region.
This is a hands-on role, working closely with the EMEA leadership team and stakeholders across the business. It will suit a person with a strategic mindset, excellent technical, planning and organisational skills and strong interpersonal skills, who can build effective working relationships at all levels.
What You'll Do
The role reports to the EMEA Head of Marketing and works closely with the Chief Operating Officer, Chief Strategy Officer and other members of the EMEA leadership team, including the Chairman's office, HR, IT, Real Estate, Corporate Citizenship, and Diversity, Inclusion & Belonging, as well as leaders of major business units.
The successful candidate will be an experienced Internal Communications professional who can create a strategic narrative for FTI employees across EMEA, prepare compelling and engaging content, and bring FTI's people and business strategies to life. The role requires proactive engagement with multiple stakeholders across the business to ensure all business units and affinity groups have a voice, and that all employees are fully engaged. It also includes ownership of several direct operational communications channels, including email newsletters, intranet site and major internal events.
Early priorities include a review of existing programmes and the development of recommendations to support the growth of the business, including the creation and implementation of new channels, processes and guidelines to ensure the effective alignment and communication of key messages.
Specific responsibilities include:
- Develop and own an overarching FTI internal communications programme, encompassing an FTI narrative that covers all aspects of FTI's business and people strategy - e.g. business performance, growth objectives, operational excellence, recruitment and retention, diversity, CSR, peer group connectivity, etc
- Work closely with business functions to understand and align objectives, creating and delivering consistent key messages to FTI employees
- Develop an aligned and consistent approach to communications across the business units and regional offices, ensuring best practice, minimising overlap and demonstrating value from each initiative
- Write, edit, proof and manage production of key communications assets, including but not limited to policies, guidelines, reports, emails, graphics and video.
- Explore, challenge and innovate to ensure the most effective tools, techniques and content are deployed to engage employee and deliver key messages effectively
- Own FTI's global intranet, Atlas, for the EMEA region
- Deliver regular internal communications channels, including the weekly EMEA-wide email newsletter
- Manage major employee events, such as Town Halls, etc.
- Develop and own an internal communications crisis management plan
- Support special projects that require extensive and structured employee engagement, e.g. Covid-19 working practices and travel restrictions, office refurbishments, staff consultations regarding topics such as office reopening post-Covid, regular staff surveys, etc
Qualifications & Experience
- 10 business experience at senior level
- Analytical and strategic mindset, able to examine information or a situation to make recommendations
- Confident challenging current thinking to create positive change
- Outcomes-oriented, identifying high level objectives and developing a programme to create impact across a complex organisational structure
- Creative thinker, with the ability to act in ways that are new and innovative, offering fresh approaches to achieving the desired result
- Influencer, able to build support, inspire others and persuade people to become champions for a particular initiative through a combination of interpersonal and presentation techniques
- Resourceful and a natural solution finder, with the ability to resolve and adapt to foreseeable and unexpected challenges
- Excellent communication skills, with strong creative copywriting for content and messaging
- Excellent written English and attention to detail, able to 'story-tell' to land messages powerfully
- Experienced in prioritising and driving communications initiatives across multiple channels, including email, social media, intranet and events
- Excellent organisational and planning skills, thriving on managing multiple projects simultaneously
- Highly collaborative approach, able to work effectively with others through idea sharing to accomplish a common goal
- Proactive and able to work independently
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Resilient under pressure, able to work to tight deadlines and remain focused
- This role requires travel to FTI offices
