Senior Consultant (IT), Business Transformation

In Business Transformation at FTI Consulting, we focus on our clients' strategic, operational, financial and capital needs by addressing the full spectrum of performance, financial and transactional challenges faced by corporations, boards, private equity sponsors, creditor constituencies and other stakeholders. Our services include strategic and business planning, profitability improvement, merger, integration and carve-out and pre-deal commercial, operational and technology due diligence, including interim management. Our demanding customer base relies on small, experienced senior teams.

Business Transformation sits with the FTI Corporate Finance practice and works alongside colleagues in the Restructuring, Transactions Services, Tax and Digital Science teams, providing a holistic offer for our clients and a rewarding experience for our staff.

FTI Corporate Finance has experienced impressive year on year growth over recent years, and further expansion of the Business Transformation team is a core part of the company strategy.

What You'll Do

The successful candidate will participate in project teams, working with clients on the execution of various engagements. As such, key activities include:

• Responsible for day-to-day activities of delivering consulting projects including subject matter leadership and interaction with other team members, client management and personnel, and professionals from other firms
• Work closely with M&A clients to plan for and execute any one of several IT due diligence projects including technology product, back office, integration and buy/sell side carve outs
• Execute on longer term integration and carve out execution projects helping clients' transition to new technology solutions that will enable scale and support future acquisitions. Work will include key workstream leadership, developing requirements for new applications and/or infrastructure, software or hardware vendor selection, development of a transition service agreement (TSA) and/or assistance with program management office (PMO)
• Help organizations understand the value of digital transformations and technology strategies in different areas of business from customer experience, operations and business model perspectives, and enable client leaders to make the correct technology decisions
• Design of enterprise operating models to deliver digital and technology solutions at pace, and facilitate the adoption of agile principles and practices at enterprise scale
• Work with clients to develop realistic cost reduction hypotheses and translate these into an actionable implementation roadmap with defined timeline of benefits realisation
• Assist with client acquisition activities such as account planning, leading development of pitch decks and other business development activities,
• Prepare draft written analyses and other reports for third parties, as necessary, on the project scope, findings and/or results of activities
• Prepare presentations and quantitative exhibits for clients and third parties, as necessary, on the project scope, findings and/or results of activities
• Organize people and information to facilitate effective data collection, access and analysis

Qualifications & Experience
• Educated to university degree level (or equivalent), preferably in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Accounting, Finance, Economics or Business Administration
• 5 years of experience in working with senior business and technology representatives on digital and technology projects and initiatives
• Experience with modern application development practices including use of a software development lifecycle (SDLC), DevOps, process automation and CI/CD
• Experience across IT operations, including on-premises architectures, hybrid and virtualized environments, identity management, business continuity, disaster recovery, governance, and software engineering best practices
• Familiarity with technology aspects of mergers and acquisitions, spanning digital and technology strategy, enterprise architecture, platform selection, cloud transformation, cybersecurity and IT operating models
• Familiar with technology or product due diligence engagements from either the buy-side or sell-side
• Experience of IT cost reduction initiatives by means of Zero-Based Budgeting (ZBB), Lean IT principles etc.
• Project experience in high-paced environments focused on rapid results (e.g. rapid performance improvement, turnaround, due diligence)
• Demonstrable and relevant industry expertise in companies with complex operations or environments highly preferred

Excellent consulting skills, specifically:

o Proven ability to take a hypothesis focused approach to solve problems from first principals
o Strong Excel based analytic and modelling skills
o Strong verbal communication skills and the ability to interact with team members and clients at all levels using a range of styles to suit the audience
o Strong written communication skills with experience of producing client ready PowerPoint documents for senior audiences
o Relationship building skills, with the ability to quickly build rapport, develop strong working relationships and work in diverse teams
o Excellent organizational and planning skills and confident working with a number of demanding stakeholders, with the ability to handle multiple tasks
o Equally strong EQ and IQ
• Strong commercial acumen/market awareness
• Basic knowledge of P&L, cash flow and balance sheet
• Flexible approach to work, with the desire and capability to work across sectors and project types
• Highly numerate with the ability to absorb and assimilate a high quantum of information
• Strong collaboration skills
• Desire and ability to learn and be enthusiastic around further training
• Computer literate with strong Excel and PowerPoint skills
• Fluent English speaker and writer
• Continental languages, especially Dutch, German, Italian, French and Spanish, highly preferable

The role is by its nature, flexible allowing for the expansion of opportunities or responsibilities outside of the areas set out above into other matters that you feel can contribute to the broader remit to enhance our technical compliance and operational leanness. There is also the opportunity to interact with industry bodies and networks and / or develop thought leadership. Given the focus on technical excellence, the role will demand that you remain keen to learn and full support will be given to any third-party training or coaching required to assist with the role.
