Interim Head of Financial Services

Following the announcement of the successful completion of Jacobs’ strategic investment in PA, we are seeking an Interim Head of Financial Services to support the Group Financial Controller by assuming all of the day-to-day running and management of the Group’s global financial transactional processes, a key part of the global finance shared services team (FSS), on a temporary basis and ensuring consistent delivery and business support performance throughout.

The FSS financial transactional team is based in a central location (although currently 100% remote working) and consists of the following process areas:

  1. Global Payroll & Expenses: delivering timely and accurate payroll and expenses payments to all Group employees, including monitoring adherence to the Group’s expense policy
  2. Global Procurement & Accounts Payable: provides commercial supplier negotiations and supplier management in accordance with best practice and timely and accurate payment to suppliers, including managing the corporate purchasing card process
  • Global Cash Management (including Accounts Receivable maintenance) & Treasury: delivering strong Group cashflow management, moving cash around the Group to settle payments as they fall due and providing strong credit control support to collect outstanding debt timely

In addition, the following areas sit outside of this role responsibility but are part of the wider finance shared service:

  1. Global financial accounting and reporting: including Group accounting and subsidiary entity ledgers (reports into Head of Group Finance)
  2. Project administration and credit control (reports into Head of Commercial Finance)
What we're looking for

Qualifications and experience

  • Ideally qualified accountant – CA / ACA / CIMA / ACCA
  • Extensive experience, including significant exposure to management of financial processes and large teams

Skills / Personal Qualities:

  • Previous experience as a Head of shared services or Financial Controller in a multinational organisation with a proven track record of achievement and success in service delivery
  • Proactive, highly organised and service driven, with the ability to hold others to account and manage multiple and sometimes competing priorities
  • Excellent customer service mindset, able to demonstrate using key performance metrics to enhance service delivery
  • Flexible, collaborative approach, being able to provide solutions to issues arising and co-ordinate the implementation
  • Strong decision making skills to answer technical and practical questions in a timely manner
  • Strong communication and influencing skills; having the confidence to challenge the business but also to enact change
  • History of optimising financial processes
  • Good knowledge of Oracle Peoplesoft or similar ERP platform desirable
