Our UK Healthcare team is a community of ~100 health professionals that support healthcare organisations to adapt and transform, connecting people and technology to reinvent care for better outcomes. Our hands-on delivery approach, working alongside our clients, empowers them to provide services with greater efficiency and efficacy. The pandemic brings unique challenges to our healthcare clients as well as new opportunities to make patients’ lives better in the future by doing things differently.

We work with both private and public healthcare systems in the UK, the US and Europe, helping payers, providers, healthcare associations, regulators and governments resolve their complex problems. We look for ingenious and innovative ways to improve quality of care and add real value. That might mean using the latest technology to help people live more independently and ease pressure on services or creating unique partnerships between care organisations to simplify patients’ choices and improve their standard of living within existing budgets.

Our consultants, many of whom have backgrounds working in healthcare, couple their real-world experience with our technological know-how to transform healthcare systems and deliver tangible results.

About the role

  • We work on the prominent issues in health and social care, from improving A&E performance, to helping people keep out of hospital with better community care, to reshaping the regulation of doctors and other health professionals
  • We make a real difference to standards of care by helping clients ensure their patients and service users receive the best possible care, for example, by making effective use of assistive technologies to manage long-term conditions and improve quality of life through our global perspective
  • Many of our clients are leaders within their fields, whether that is the Department of Health and Social Care, the NHS, regulators, local authorities, or other participants in the health and social care system. Recently, we have provided support to large scale health programmes such as the national ventilator challenge and national vaccine programme
  • We have clients in health systems around the world, for example, we are supporting wide ranging reforms in Ireland. We also work closely with colleagues in other geographies, particularly the Middle East, the Nordic countries and the Americas
  • We have unrivalled access to innovation through our leading analytics capabilities as well as our unique Innovation and Technology Centre in Cambridge
What we're looking for

Core knowledge and capabilities:

  • Relevant health work experience - this is likely to include experience in UK health and/or social care (hospitals, commissioning organisations, regulators, community, social, mental health or primary care)
  • Degree or equivalent qualification
  • A solid understanding of the challenges facing the UK healthcare sector with a particular focus on providers and commissioners
  • Evidence of your contribution to the delivery of financial, operational and/or service improvement initiatives including the exposure to developing strategic or transformational policies
  • Proficient verbal communicator who is able to deliver high impact presentations and convey simple solutions to complex concepts
  • Proficient written communication skills with the ability to write documents that are compelling, engaging and unambiguous
  • Proficient investigative skills with ability to demonstrate competent problem-solving ability in relation to technically complex or conceptually abstract ideas
  • Ability to build collaborative relationships with senior stakeholders
  • Ability to engage and influence senior stakeholders, including clinicians
  • Good project management and presentation skills

Additional desirable skills:

  • Possesses core consulting skills which are transferrable to other areas as and when necessary e.g. programme management, financial analysis, agile
  • Operational management, financial management or consulting (from a recognised firm) experience in healthcare providers
  • Experience working with NHS datasets which may include financial, clinical and performance data to identify and evidence improvement opportunities

  • Available and willing to travel as needed (in line with government travel advice)

We are hiring across a range of ranks:

- Principal Consultant: Expected to act as Assignment Manager on small and medium-sized assignments. Candidates typically have either significant specialist industry experience or significant previous consultancy experience

- Consultant: Expected to be dependable when working on their own project tasks which are predominately client facing but under the supervision of an Assignment Manager. They will usually be part of a team but may be required to head up a workstream or a small project.  Candidates typically will have industry experience or consultancy experience

- Consultant Analyst: expected to support a team of consultants in research and study within their specific technical field, with Consultant Analysts having more demanding tasks and increasing client contact. Candidates typically will have some industry experience or consultancy experience
