Our Global Innovation Technology Centre is home to more than 300 strategists, scientists, designers, technologists and engineers. Across 11,000 square meters of design studios, laboratories and engineering workshops, our experts take our clients’ biggest challenges and deliver the end-to-end innovation journey.

Within the Energy & Utilities (EaU) team, PA has a highly regarded team of over 160 consultants comprising of former industry professionals, and consulting experts in a broad range of capabilities that include digital transformation, operational improvement, business and organisation design and technology innovation. Our Energy and Utilities practice works across the Water, Energy and Nuclear sub-sectors globally on some of the most challenging and high-profile assignments to make a real difference to our climate future.

In this role you will join the growing technology team building our global technology innovation business in Energy and Utilities.

The ideal candidate will focus on hardware technology; helping us build the team, sell more work to clients and manage a multi-disciplinary technology team out of Cambridge to deliver outstanding work.  This will involve a collaborative approach; working with our digital and analytics capabilities to deliver end-end technology solutions, working closely with the global Energy and Utilities team, and bringing together the key pillars that PA is known for - Consulting, Technology and Innovation.

 

The role of Managing Consultant (MC):

Within PA the MC role represents a top tier appointment in the organisation, with MC’s typically serving as our business development, thought and team leaders.  With one foot in the operation, one foot in the strategic and a head for business and proposition development, this role is highly varied and calls for someone who is autonomous and a self-starter.

What we're looking for

The ideal candidate:

We are seeking an experienced Managing Consultant who is able to both sell and deliver high quality technology development work to our clients in the Energy and Utilities sector. This will include:

 

  • Leading medium to large-scale complex technical multi-disciplinary assignments
  • Growing, managing, and developing a high performing team of energy and utilities focused technologists in our Technology Innovation Centre
  • Active involvement in managing client accounts support engagement with our clients
  • Producing thought-provoking pieces to raise the profile of PA in technology innovation in the sector
  • Drawing on your sector network and being responsible for initiating, leading and winning sales.
  • You will have a strong network of senior contacts and potential buyers across the sector; ideally in areas that are complementary to our current client base

 

Your primary expertise and experience will be as a multi-disciplinary technology leader.   Specifically, you will be experienced in one or more of the following fields:

 

  • A deep and broad understanding of Energy Transition and the supporting technologies
  • Technical expertise in at least one area of Energy Transition that would enable you to lead technology development in that area
  • Technical expertise in the development of sensor, control systems, telemetry systems used in monitoring, control, condition-based maintenance and optimisation of Energy and Utility assets.
  • Experience as technical lead of complex multi-disciplinary technology development projects
  • Expert in complex technical project management
  • Expertise in at least one of these technical fields - Electronics, Electrical, Mechanical or Embedded Software Engineering
  • Chartered Engineer
  • Commercial experience in structuring highly complicated proposals, effort estimation and sales conversion.
