Situated at PA’s Global Innovation and Technology Centre (, the Mechanical Engineering capability is a team of fifty engineers that span machine build, process development, product design and related disciplines.  This capability sits at the core of PA’s ability to support its clients with innovation in a changing world.  The team works closely with other capabilities at the technology centre (Applied Science, Electronics Engineering, Industrial Design, Software and Controls) as well as PA’s industry sector focused “got to market” teams (GTM) in a truly multi-disciplinary environment.


We are seeking an experienced engineer who understands how to develop production automation for a wide-variety of industry sectors and to ultimately become “the go to” resource for PA in automation systems architecting.

What we're looking for

We need a manufacturing expert that can be the voice of the production floor when developing new products or packages who will approach challenges with a ‘how can we’ rather than a ‘why we cannot’ attitude.  

Fundamentally you should have


  • Degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering discipline
  • Experience designing, developing and qualification of high speed capital equipment i.e. filling and packaging lines, automated handling, web handling – FMCG, healthcare, pharmaceutical sectors, specialist equipment design companies
  • Significant hands-on experience of running engineering build work streams
  • Experience of working with paper or cellulose fibre products, and an understanding of coating and laminating processes for those products.
