  • Lead and/or support business transformation as interim senior management, post-merger integration execution, scenario planning, and through organisational and operating model redesign
  • Drive revenue and share growth through commercial strategy implementation, direct and indirect channel management, compensation design, pricing and contracting control, and salesforce effectiveness
  • Accelerate innovation and product launches through cross-functional process design, commercial and product organizational alignment, R&D investment criteria, and facilitating new technology exploration
  • Increase profitability through pricing maximization, improving manufacturing and procurement processes, maintaining SG&A cost controls, facilitating restructuring and synergies, and improving product line mix distribution and selling
  • Improve cash flow through price and profit maximization, working capital improvement, inventory and supply chain processes and capital expenditure controls.
  • Increase overhead efficiency through shared services alignment and process improvements across Human Resources, Procurement, Finance, IT, and other critical business support functions
  • Lead and/or support business transformation as interim senior management, post-merger integration execution, scenario planning, and through organisational and operating model redesign

Qualifications, experience, and academics preferred

This is a newly established business within A&M Europe, which will leverage and assimilate existing capability at A&M, predominantly in the Corporates and Private Equity channels to market. Above all else, successful candidates for this line of business will demonstrate entrepreneurial flair, be innovative and self-sufficient, can absolutely thrive in ambiguity, and can generate and capitalise on opportunities as they arise (internally across A&M as well as with clients). These opportunities will be richly forthcoming, but it will be incumbent on the HLS team to maximise the value that they offer.

Due to double digit growth in Europe over the last 4 years and  exponential increase in demand for services across the firm, A&M require an experienced Healthcare & Life Sciences professional to join the team as a Managing Director working alongside existing Partners in Frankfurt & Zurich as well as with the Head of the practice based here in London to build the business and capitalise on the market opportunity. 

The appointee will have a tight grasp on Healthcare trends and challenges, with ambition to grow the business across the HLS spectrum as described above in the mid to long term maturity of the business. The successful candidate will be experienced at delivering solutions that address business critical issues, including immediate and future major operational issues, and will build a robust yet flexible plan to generate deal flow of approximately €3-5 million per annum and develop sustainable business, externally and internally.  The successful appointee will be an expert in selling and delivering both interim and advisory assignments.

Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate the following credentials;

  • Robust and leverageable network across potential clients in the HLS space – experience in either pharmaceuticals, MedTech, medical device and/or biotechnology will be equally considered. He/She will be able to demonstrate a successful track record in converting business contacts and leads into sustainable, profitable revenue streams.
  • Proven success in a practice leadership role, managing managers/senior professionals who are running practices/functions themselves;
  • Contribute strongly to business development activity including developing successful pitches and selling, on from the initial “diagnostic” project phase into implementation work;
  • Demonstrate strong ability in the identification, direction and optimization of great talent
  • Expert and selling an delivering interim and advisory assignments
  • Proven leadership experience at both operational and advisory level
  • Excellent financial acumen
  • Demonstrable experience in a successful business transformation process, with an instrumental and identifiable role in the success
  • Quality Control/Regulatory/Clinical/Medical Education credentials will be considered a distinct bonus

The successful candidate will be a high-energy business leader with excellent financial skills and a track record of executional success. They will also bring proven ability in leading a successful practice group within a major advisory firm or will have built and lead a top tier consulting business. Advisory experience will be from a ‘Big 4’ consultancy, top tier strategy firm or a specialist/niche advisory firm is preferred.

The preferred candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university and ideally a combination of advisory and corporate experience. Strong experience of either, however, will be considered. Fluency in one or more European languages is highly desirable with a strong preference for French or German.
