Senior Director - Turnaround, Cash Management and Liquidity

Companies, investors and government entities around the world turn to Alvarez & Marsal (A&M) when conventional approaches are not enough to drive change and achieve results. Privately held since its founding in 1983, A&M is a leading global professional services firm that provides advisory, business performance improvement and turnaround management services. With over 4,000 people across four continents, we deliver tangible results for corporates, boards, private equity firms, law firms and government agencies facing complex challenges. Our senior leaders, and their teams, help organizations transform operations, catapult growth and accelerate results through decisive action. Comprised of experienced operators, world-class consultants, former regulators and industry authorities, A&M leverages its restructuring heritage to turn change into a strategic business asset, manage risk and unlock value at every stage of growth.

The opportunity

Our Corporate Transformation practice is built on deep functional expertise with a demonstrably differentiated ability to address the most complex business problems and deliver dramatic and sustainable business performance improvements. We operate in four pillars: CFO Services, Growth & Commercial Operations, Supply Chain & Operations and, Transformation. In each pillar we identify and focus on a clear set of value propositions and a target client portfolio where we develop long-term, global, sustainable relationships. Our pillar leads are supported by sector leads in Industrials, Consumer, Retail, Media and Pharmaceuticals. Working directly with company management, A&M helps stabilise financial and operational performance by developing and implementing comprehensive profitability and working capital improvements.

Our pan-European Corporate Transformation practice is expanding and therefore an opportunity exists for us to strengthen the team at the Senior Director level in London (similar opportunities exist in other European offices). Reporting to the European Head of CFO Services, the successful appointee will have responsibility for continuing to build the profile and reputation of A&M as a leading global professional services firm that delivers critical assistance to companies that are underperforming or experiencing a full-blown liquidity crisis.

Specifically, the Senior Director will be responsible for:

  • Executing the vision and direction for the continuing build out of CFO Services including building a robust yet flexible plan to generate deal flow and develop a sustainable business.

  • Attracting and developing a group of experienced professionals to drive growth, in addition to quickly assimilating and leveraging existing capability at A&M.

  • Coordinating across the broader A&M in Europe and globally in areas such as portfolio development and key account management, drawing together the industry and functional expertise needed to serve our clients.

You should demonstrate the following capabilities:

  • A successful track record as an experienced Director, Junior Partner or similar within a debt restructuring, cash optimisation, liquidity and turnaround practice at a leading Advisory firm

  • Ability to conduct an initial rapid diagnostic into the company's immediate and future cash needs, financial framework and controls and turnaround strategy

  • A trusted advisor on how businesses can most effectively improve the returns on their investments

  • A track record selling and delivering assignments to their established network.

Typically, successful appointees in the Corporate Transformation Services team are:
