About the role

As a Senior Manager in Strategy&, you will work with the Partner and Director team to help our clients solve important and complex strategic problems. You will lead teams, with a focus on problem solving, delivering exceptional client engagements, building strong client relationships and managing the personal development of others. Working with consultants from across our global offices, you will have the opportunity to shape the strategy and drive transformational business change with leading government organisations and public sector bodies in the National Government Services sector.

On projects, you will be the day-to-day lead, working hand in hand with the client - driving problem solving and the direction of projects.

Building networks and engaging across our Strategy& community and sector consulting teams is key to growing our firm; participating in thought leadership and building new initiatives based on personal interests are some of the many ways Strategy& members continue to develop the business.

Strategy& offers in-depth training across all consulting levels and will support your development throughout your career. Using a combination of formal training programs and on-the-job feedback learning, our consultants combine core analytical thinking with hypothesis-driven approaches to deliver tangible client deliverables.

As a part of Strategy&, you will support clients in developing their capabilities across functions, whether it’s strategy development, capabilities assessment or transforming the way the organisation works within the public or private sectors.

Key responsibilities

  • Reporting to the Partner and Principal/Director team, you will have responsibility for managing client projects, structuring the work schedule and driving each assignment to a successful conclusion.

  • Producing clear, persuasive and concise documents for senior audiences.

  • Planning and managing the delivery of quality work.

  • Directing the analysis, assessing the depth required on each assignment, translating the analysis into useful findings and quality assuring the results in conjunction with project leadership.

  • Defining the source and level of data gathering required to solve complex problems in a short timeframe.

  • Managing the development of junior team members on projects and identifying opportunities for them to grow and build their skills.

  • Building productive and lasting client relationships at all levels.

  • Building relationships within the PwC Network at all levels and be seen as a valued member of the community –contributing to internal, firm-building activities proactively.


  • We are seeking to recruit an experienced strategy professional with a clear record of achievement and progression - they should have current or prior experience within a leading consulting firm.

  • The Consultant must be intellectually curious, with demonstrable problem solving skills.

  • Senior Managers must feel comfortable working with large amounts of quantitative data - taking a structured, hypothesis driven approach.

  • They must have strong leadership and motivational skills, with the ability to manage consulting teams and assignments.

  • Candidates must have business strategy consulting experience with clients in the government or public sector, and will be expected to demonstrate functional expertise across a range of topics - with a focus on one or more of the following;

    • Business/Organisation Strategy

    • Growth Strategy

    • Digital Strategy

    • Operational Improvement

  • Educated to degree level (ideally to post-graduate level) in - for example - Economics, Mathematics or Business.

  • They will be highly numerate and must be a highly motivated self-starter.

  • A thought leader in strategy and operations processes / practices; viewed by clients as an expert who they turn to for help and advice on their most difficult issues.

  • An exemplary track record in providing client satisfaction.

  • A strong team player with empathy, humility and dedication to joint success and shared development.

  • Exceptional analytical skills with documented experience of the ability to solve unstructured problems involving large amounts of quantitative data with a structured and hypothesis driven approach.

  • Candidates must demonstrate strong leadership skills and experience of managing functionally, geographically and culturally diverse teams

  • Strong oral and written communication skills with ability to communicate effectively with peers, stakeholders and clients at all levels.
