Economic Consulting has quickly established itself as a core part of the European Disputes and Investigations (D&I) team, gaining significant momentum from both a client development and recruitment perspective. This is confirmation of the opportunity for A&M to play a lead role in the provision of premium Economics Advisory services across Europe. A&M is encouraging disruption in the market as the business models of the incumbent consultancies come under further pressure.

Core areas for Economic Consulting will include but not be limited to;

  • Economic disputes and expert witness testimony
  • Competition economics
  • Corporate strategy and performance improvement
  • Regulatory advice
  • Transaction support for mergers/divestiture

From a sector perspective, the team has strong existing sector credentials in the Telecommunications & Media, Utilities, Finance, Industrials, Infrastructure and Healthcare & Life Sciences. The Economics Consulting team will also leverage and assimilate existing capability at A&M, working closely with the Corporates and Private Equity channels to market.In order to build upon this establishment, we are now looking to hire an exceptional Economist at the Manager level to contribute significantly to this growth and success.

Preferred Candidate Requirements - Qualifications, Experience, and Skills

Above all else, successful candidates for Economics Consulting will have demonstrable domain expertise, having experience as applied economist in an advisory firm, a corporate strategy department or at a key regulator. The preferred candidate will have top tier academic credentials in an Economics discipline (ideally PhD or MSc) with advanced conceptual and quantitative modelling skills, as well as practised proficiency in relevant tools (e.g. Stata or R). The successful hire will be able to operate in a client facing environment, and with good technical literacy, a flair for problem solving and intellectual curiosity directed at delivering client value.

With 5-7 years working experience in a relevant environment, the preferred candidate will be able to combine their technical proficiency with the ability to convey this in a client environment, with compelling presentation skills and sound reasoning in a style applicable to the clients scenario. Industry depth with a focus on TMT and Energy sectors will be preferred, but expertise in other sectors will be considered.

The preferred candidate will also be highly organised, will be able to meet tight deadlines and keep a cool head under pressure.
