Our People & Organisation Change practice is being established to recognize and fulfil client demand and market need.  We have deep expertise across different functions to help clients tackle a broad range of challenges, integrating effective solutions across international businesses and achieving excellent results. The People & Organisation Change practice will complement A&M’s existing areas of focus which include functional and business-wide transformation, leveraging technology to improve business performance and pre- & post- deal transaction activity.

Blending hands-on functional and industry expertise and experience, our team of experts work to develop and implement operational performance improvement solutions.  Working either in an advisory capacity or taking the reins in an interim senior executive role, AS&M’s CPI practice comprises a group of truly outstanding senior functional and industry specialists and change leaders.

Purpose of the role:

Due to high growth, and our step forward in establishing this new practice, a new opportunity exists for a Director in the London office. The role is expected to:

  • Build the credibility and capability of the People & Organisation Change practice through developing first class solutions, interventions and tools
  • Contribute to the reputation and profile of the firm by developing the expertise and range of capabilities in its offering
  • Attract and develop clients through reputation of track record, and by networking

Key Responsibilities:

Consulting, solution-design and delivery as part of:

  • large scale, international corporate performance improvement/transformation programmes
  • specific targeted OE and HR-related interventions in large and medium-sized enterprises

Lead and support on international client challenges in areas such as:

  • Analysis of relevant HR and change-related data to evidence improvement opportunities
  • Planning the people implications of:

-organisation and role restructuring, including supporting “as is/to be” process mapping and change-readiness

-post-merger integration, including people plan implementation, and cultural integration

  • Ensuring clarity on roles, role relationships, decision-making and capability requirements in the context or organisation design
  • Design and implementation of capability frameworks
  • Design and implementation of interventions for effective approaches to performance management, supported by relevant tools.
  • Facilitation of senior teams to achieve alignment of strategic objectives and individual performance targets
  • Management and communication of redundancy and TUPE transfer programmes as part of wider transformation programmes

Lead or support People & Organisation Change interventions that build the firm’s credibility in such a way that enables the introduction of A&M colleagues for build-on assignments, or future work.

Projects can also include:

  • Gathering and analyzing data, formulating and testing hypotheses, facilitating workshops, and developing recommendations for presentation to client management;
  • Developing and implementing a new operating plan/structures to improve the business operational performance;
  • Supporting initial rapid diagnostic into a company's immediate and future strategic and operational issues, product profitability, cost base, manufacturing processes and options for performance improvement;
  • Hands-on contribution to the analysis, design and implementation of business performance approaches, developing tailor-made solutions and working closely with clients to ensure positive impact and sustainable results. 

Requirements for this position:

We are looking to hire someone who has a successful track record with a blend of operational and leadership experience in an international business, as well as consulting experience. Experience of working in a consulting firm with an emphasis on high standards of project completion and client satisfaction is also required. We are looking for a team-orientated individual with excellent influencing skills and a track record of supporting complex transformational change.


  • Either: Group HR Director or Divisional HR Director or Operations Director in a complex international business. Or: extensive Director-level and above consulting experience with a major consulting firm, with prior HR or relevant operations experience within an international business. 
  • A range of senior roles leading teams, including workshops and work sessions, delivering end to end organisation effectiveness and HR transformation projects across territories; 
  • Clear demonstration of having supported large and medium scale operational improvement transformations in FTSE 100-sized (or similar international) clients.
  • Experience to have included some meaningful exposure to manufacturing
  • Sound experience of the responsibility areas outlined in A,B & C, above.
  • Strong influencing skills and team working orientation.
  • A basic understanding of finance and accounting principles, and able to understand high-level company accounts.
  • An ability and willingness to travel to client sites, across the UK & European regions, at short notice as part of the working week;
  • A good first degree (or equivalent) from an accredited university
  • Fluency to a business level in both written and spoken English
  • Numerate, good ability with PowerPoint & basic Excel.


  • MBA or relevant post-graduate qualification;
  • Experience of living and working in more than one country
  • Additional European languages
  • Knowledge/experience of LEAN and other quality management processes
