General purpose of the job

The Manager / Director of International Strategy drives high priority initiatives as part of a team that supports the international Chief Executive Officer. This teammate will support, and at times independently lead, projects across a variety of topics, in a high visibility role reporting directly to the Head of International Strategy. For example, the teammate will be responsible for co-architecting country strategies for our current portfolio of countries and assessing new markets, verticals and targets for DaVita’s global expansion. The nature of the role is truly global in scope, including travel from Brazil to China, Arabia and beyond. This is a strategy role with a strong bias to action and accountability, not just thought partnership. The role will facilitate a deep understanding of the business with significant exposure to senior executives and is viewed as a stepping stone towards future leadership opportunities within DaVita. The position interacts across multiple departments and geographies and is based in London, the United Kingdom.

Essential duties and responsibilities

The following duties and responsibilities generally reflect the expectations of this position but are not intended to be all inclusive.

  • Developing creative strategies for international growth and competitive differentiation across international markets
  • Creating strategies for each country in our global portfolio and building transformational business models that drive new value for patients, providers and the business
  • Evaluating opportunities that drive core business expansion, international presence and innovation in white space
  • Forming specific strategies for subsidiaries, JV partners and acquisition targets
  • Analyzing market dynamics, financials, growth opportunities and threats
  • Informing international initiatives on healthcare reform, macro trends and policy
  • Managing dynamic, complex problems involving key stakeholders (country managers, physicians, patients, health systems, payers, etc.)
  • Contributing to creation of key leadership communications, such as presentations for the International CEO and Board of Directors

Minimum qualifications

Education and experience required to fulfill the essential duties.

  • 2+ years’ experience in top tier consulting firm / investment bank / private equity / corporate finance or corporate strategy department
  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken
  • German, Portuguese, Arabic or Chinese language skills a strong plus
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills to build credibility as a "peer” across all levels

  • Analytical skills - strong quantitative background with ability to create detailed financial and operational models
  • Problem solving skills - ability to structure ambiguous problems, think creatively, generate and test hypotheses
  • Presentation skills - comfort putting together storylines in PowerPoint
  • Communication skills - ability to synthesize and convey research/analyses to senior management
  • Management skills - ability to drive multiple pieces of work forward simultaneously
  • High energy and ability to work in a very fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • Desire to be part of a fun, yet hard-working team
  • Experience in healthcare is a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree in related area required and Master’s degree preferred
  • Travel required: up to 50%
