Our heritage is restructuring, but for over 30 years we have grown from a premier restructuring boutique to a global consulting firm with more than $1 billion in revenues. Over the course of time we have experienced the shifts in the various regulatory environments around the world.

Establishing a presence in Europe over ten years ago, the European business now has some 600 staff in a broad range of professional services including: Corporate Transformation, Financial Institutions Advisory, Tax and Disputes and Investigation Services as well as a market leading Private Equity route to market servicing Transaction Advisory and Portfolio Company Performance Improvement.

The regulatory changes impacting audit practices in the U.K. and Europe are having a significant impact on the Restructuring practices of the Big 4 accounting firms which create an obstacle for the practitioners to fully realize their potential. We believe that the beneficiaries of the disruption will be non-audit consulting firms such as Alvarez & Marsal.

Corporate Transformation Services (CTS)

Through our Corporate Transformation practice, Alvarez & Marsal offers critical assistance to companies with performance challenges at a corporate and/or divisional level. Such challenges may act as a drain on earnings and cash flow, distracts management, and erodes employee, customer and shareholder confidence. We help clients identify and quantify opportunities to unlock shareholder value by divesting and/or improving under-performing and non-core business units or assets. Working directly with company management, Alvarez & Marsal helps stabilise financial and operational performance by developing and implementing comprehensive profitability and cash enhancing improvements..

Clients call us when they need to implement step-change, sustainable cost reductions that will leave their organizations leaner, stronger and more agile in order to compete in a disrupted environment and fuel future growth. In addition, specific events can trigger the need for an objective perspective of a company’s performance, such as; missed earning projections, lacklustre topline growth, performance gaps versus competitors or the industry, financial report restatements or investigations. Increasingly the risk of Shareholder Activism may also make change a necessity. Starting with a comprehensive, bottom-up assessment, we identify a portfolio of high impact opportunities to improve EBITDA and cash flow across the enterprise, ranging from quick wins to the ‘tough calls’ that deliver transformational results.

In these instances, the services of our Corporate Transformation team include:

  • Bottom-up Assessment
  • Quantified EBITDA / Cash Improvements
  • Rapid Results / 100-Day Improvement Plan
  • Organizational Redesign and Management Architecture
  • Resizing international business units and operations

We pride ourselves on listening to our clients, understanding their business and combining solutions and implementation to preserve and generate value for our client’s businesses.  Our goal is to improve performance through hands-on involvement in our clients’ operations and transactions.

Our CTS group has experienced unprecedented growth and therefore, an opportunity exists for us to strengthen the team at the Senior Director level in order to provide additional project team management resource for the growing Managing Director team. We are seeking a talented, ambitious, experienced and entrepreneurial transformation practitioner who is interested in developing their career in the much sought after rapid transformation space.

Typically, successful appointees in the CTS team will;

  • Have a deep understanding of operational transformation and restructuring including the optimisation of all aspects of a business, ideally gained within several contrasting industries and businesses of significant size, scale and complexity
  • Ideally combine the above with proven expertise in Transformation/Restructuring consulting gained in a major advisory firm at a senior (on-the-ground team leading) level.
  • Have deep experience in leading project teams tasked with;
    • conducting rapid diagnostic reviews of a company's immediate and future revenues, profitability, cost base, major strategic and operational challenges, market position and options for future transformation
    • Developing and implementing (“hands-on”) transformation and performance improvement solutions
  • Possess excellent financial skills (often they hold recognised accounting qualifications), analytical rigour and a demonstrable track record of success
  • Be keen to make their mark in a highly entrepreneurial environment

In addition the successful candidate will also possess excellent negotiating skills, ideally gained in a transformation or operational restructuring environment.

A Senior Director will also be able to sell additional work by successfully identifying client needs, facilitating the definition of the role and winning client trust. Ultimately, the successful appointee will be recognized by the client as the lead for value contributed on engagements and therefore build his/her own credible network of contacts and referral sources with clients, professionals and institutions.
