Role description

What’s it all about?

If you’re a talented, experienced technical lead with some product management experience, looking for your next big opportunity, we’ve got a great offer for you! We’re looking for a technical lead to help us build a new design team, creating and launching new businesses.

Our projects differ client-to-client, but what they all have in common is working with some of the world’s biggest brands to build profitable new ventures. Here’s a taste of what we’ve been up to:

  • Creating and trading the first digital store experience for a global fashion retailer in a Shoreditch pop-up shop
  • Launching Zipcar for diggers with a global equipment manufacturer
  • Building Tinder for Physiotherapy to test a new business for a global tech company (well, sort of)
  • Preventing hikers in the US losing limbs to snake bites with our handy snake and venom identification app
  • Radically reducing industrial boiler failures in the shipping community with our IoT boiler water management solution

Where do you fit in?

We’ve got the commercial side covered, but now need to build our design credentials. That’s where you come in. We’ve recently hired a design lead, and you’ll be working hand-in-hand with them on projects to build working prototypes to test out client’s new business ideas. You’ll be working from concept to prototype to launch, iteratively building more and more sophisticated technical solutions to meet their commercial objectives.

We are looking for a technical lead with a broad skills-base. Most importantly, you’ll be able to manage a development team to build a range of prototypes, but we’d also love to meet people who have some experience in product management and who can work to technically shape prototypes which balance the commercial objective, cost and time to deliver, and technical feasibility.

Every day is different: you could be working on the launch of a new web-based service, managing a team to build connected hardware to automate a manufacturing process, or developing an initial prototype retail experience to test its commercial impact.

People are important, and as well as managing your team, you’ll be working closely with our clients, running workshops, understanding their wants and presenting your work ? but you’ve done that all before, right?

We feel like we already know you ? you’re

  • Passionate about digital product development and bringing ideas to life
  • A professional, with experience in structuring and managing the workflow of development teams
  • An expert in agile product development
  • Knowledgeable around a broad range of technical platforms used to support prototypes
  • Experienced in using Jira or other workflow management tools to manage development teams
  • Ability to understand a commercial objective and use this to shape minimum viable product prototypes. You can manage the trade-offs required to bring an MVP to market at pace
  • Experienced in product management, making sure what you build is fit for its strategic purpose
  • A natural leader, with experience running multi-functional team, including UX and design
  • Enthusiastic about building and shaping a team
  • A client favourite, having worked closely with yours to create something beautiful (and profitable!)
  • Flexible, inspired and creative, always looking for new ways to solve problems

We are Consulting

Three core competency areas make up our Consulting service line:

  • Technology
  • Strategy & Operations
  • Human Capital

We exist to solve complex problems

Our consultants are renowned for their straightforward approach to solving some of the world’s largest and most complex business challenges. With a team of over 3,000, each of us is energised by the challenge a seemingly inscrutable problem presents. Our distinctiveness lies in our refusal to accept a problem at face value - we draw on the depth of our shared insight to ask the right questions, and it’s these questions that uncover answers - answers with impact.

We are committed to collaboration

Our role is to unlock potential for growth and innovation. We believe this requires real collaboration ? with our own networks and with our clients. It’s why we commit to truly getting under the skin of our client’s needs, developing a full appreciation for their environment, goals and ambitions. We’re also unafraid to challenge. In so doing, we build long-term and trusted affinities.

We create long-term, sustainable impact

We often work hand-in-hand with our clients to help find the right solution and to help apply that solution. Our aim is to leave behind ambassadors who are equipped to continue the transformation we began. For us, it’s about embedding sustainable change, allowing the impact of our insight to be felt for a long time to come.

We offer a number of different career pathways

We offer three different career pathways at Deloitte, meaning that there are three different routes by which people can progress in Consulting. We provide variety regarding the career options available to you, assisting you to take career steps that fit your skills, talents and aspirations, and providing an environment where those choices can be discussed in meaningful and constructive career conversations.

The Consulting Career Paths are:

Consulting pathway ? pathway based around developing a broad consulting skillset alongside building expertise in a specific domain

Consulting Solutions pathway ? pathway where there is greater focus on building skills and deep expertise in a specific domain. Practitioners have a narrow focus, determined by their SME and type of contribution made

Consulting Services pathway ? pathway for people whose career is built around the delivery of managed services to clients (either internal or external)
