The Consumer Business practice within Deloitte is a significant part of our consulting practice and is continuing to go from strength to strength. To support this growth, we are looking for people to join the team who have a deep understanding of the consumer business world, across one or more of the following industries: retail, consumer packaged goods, tourism and leisure. This experience may have been gained through working as a external consultant on clients in these industries, or as an internal consultant within an industry leader. A blend of programme management expertise with experience and knowledge of the consumer business industry is the key to being successful.


A Senior Manager will have responsibility for:

  • Assisting with the design and development of a programme or project initiative.
  • Leading on specific programme or project management disciplines e.g. benefit tracking, issue / risk management, business case development.
  • Applying programme or project management tools and techniques appropriately in client engagements including identifying programme or project issues and proposing resolution strategies.
  • Creating effective communications messages using appropriate channels for the management of programme stakeholders.
  • Stakeholder management and communications.
  • Leading engagement management, including developing fee estimates, managing budgets and billing clients.
  • Business development work, including the preparation of bids and proposals.
  • Developing long-term client relationships to further enhance the Deloitte footprint.
  • Contributing to practice development eg. through the development of thought leadership material.
  • Having a broader perspective of potential issues encountered when managing diverse teams and the strategies to overcome them; have a clear understanding of the firm’s commitment to creating a more inclusive culture


To qualify for the role you must have:

  • Previous experience in project or programme management, either working for an institution or a consultancy firm.
  • Relevant experience within consumer industries - retail/FMCG - or consulting firm.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the UK consumer business industry and market.
  • Experience of change management and transformation initiatives.
  • Experience and ability of leading teams (small or large).
  • Experience of operating with senior level stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Good problem solving and analytical skills
  • Degree qualified (minimum 2:1) or equivalent experience.
  • Full travel mobility.
  • The right to live and work in the UK.
  • Project Management qualifications (MSP, Prince 2, PMP) preferred.
