The HR Applications Service Area at Deloitte provides Payroll services to large national and multi-national clients. This Practice is a huge growth area for Deloitte, and owes much of its development to the exceptional global track record that has been established with an enviable client base.
Our people bring a unique combination of business and technical skills to the projects we deliver. We have many years of experience in dealing with all aspects of front and back office projects, from building reliable operating models to product selection, customisation and integration.
Payroll is a growth area for Deloitte; the practice is building its Payroll advisory capability to match the established payroll implementation capability. The Payroll service offering with Deloitte are categorised into three main areas; reviews of the payroll operations; vendor selection; implementation support. Over the past year our Payroll team have been involved in a wide variety of projects; review of a pharmaceutical organisations Payroll function, system selection for a European Retailer, project management of a European outsourced Payroll for a global manufacture and development of a global payroll strategy for a global manufacturer. The Deloitte Payroll team are system and vendor agnostic which enables us to build relationships and work with all of the major payroll vendors providing UK and global services.
Responsibilities
A Payroll Specialist, Senior Consultant will have the following responsibilities:
- Active role in pre-sales and bid development;
- Able to develop strong relationships with the client;
- Has excellent written and verbal communication skills including presentations, chairing meetings, workshop facilitation, business and report writing;
- Is able to manage packages of work within a large project (client-facing or internal) or undertake a small payroll project on their own;
- Ensures that all standards and processes are adhered to for any deliverables produced;
- Plays an active role in the payroll competency, inputting into the development of the practice;
- Regularly attends Payroll User Groups and Events;
- Is able to play an active role at client seminars and the production of marketing materials; and
- Responsible for mentoring junior consultants and analysts.
Requirements
For our Senior Consultant grade positions, we look for the following skills and experience:
- lead a payroll workstream within a large project (client-facing or internal);
- lead a team who successfully delivered payroll workstream project deliverables including scoping, planning, reviewing and achieving sign-off;
- part of a team who undertook payroll reviews and/or vendor selection projects;
- analytical skills used to derive insight from complex and varied information sources and the ability to input into the creation of sound recommendations;
- excellent written and verbal communication skills including presentations, meeting minutes, workshop participation, business and report writing
- capable of playing an active role in pre-sales and bid development;
- involvement in client seminars and the production of marketing materials;
- understanding of operational payroll within a large organisation or payroll vendor
- Ideally Graduate / Postgraduate level
- Ideally CIPP qualified
- 5-7 years payroll experience in a large organisation, ideally within a global payroll department
- Experience of the full annual payroll cycle
- Working with 3rd parties, including payroll vendors
- HRMS advisory services
- Knowledge and understanding of payroll business processes
- Prior consultancy experience would be preferable
