Role description
Technology is an exciting and thriving competency within our Consulting practice. We have a diverse practice with around1700 practitioners working on challenging engagements across a wide portfolio of clients, and operating from many offices around the UK. Our breadth and depth of expertise enables us to work with FTSE 100 clients to help define, shape and successfully deliver some of their most complex technology projects. The quality of our technical skills is enhanced through our practical knowledge of implementation and our ability to team with each other. Our tools and methodologies add to the quality, efficiency and effectiveness of our work.
Working at the heart of some of the most significant technology projects in the UK, our Architecture and Analysis teams comprise over 100 practitioners who are integral to the delivery of many client projects. Working with other practitioners from within the Technology competency and across Deloitte's Consulting practice as a whole, these teams provide the bridge between business and technology, advising and delivering technology-enabled business transformation.
Deloitte has one of the world’s largest Financial Services practices and we provide advisory services to clients across the global banking, capital markets, Insurance and asset management sectors. We are looking to grow our Architecture and Analysis teams within our rapidly growing Insurance sector and are recruiting specifically at our Consultant, Senior Consultant and Manager grades.

The Technology Insurance team at Deloitte is supporting our clients as they face a number of key challenges, spanning core operations, risk and finance functions and digital transformation. We work with clients in all sectors to overcome these challenges, including General Insurance, London Markets, complex Global Risk Carriers and Life Insurance.

Responsibilities
- IT Strategy Development: Assist clients develop a technology strategy and roadmap that aligns with and supports their key business priorities. Ensure that IT is able to act as a key enabler for business value.
- IT Sourcing: Allow clients to develop a sourcing strategy and delivery model to support the business needs at optimal cost. Assess different vendor capabilities and commercial propositions and develop recommendations for future state. Support clients through the sourcing and selection process, and transition to the new deliver model.
- IT Operating Models: Support a senior IT leadership team or business sponsor to develop an IT Operating Model, outlining the strategic aims of the organisation, and then defining the various components of the IT function, including roles, processes, controls and potentially tools.
- IT Assessments: Undertake IT maturity assessments, potentially across all elements of the IT function. Such an assignment would examine how business alignment, strategy, architecture, development and operations are currently being run, and seek to understand issues with capability, process and governance. The assignment would conclude with a set of recommendations and next steps.
- IT Architecture: Identifying and setting out the architectural components that provide a framework to facilitate the provision of technology and business solutions
- IT Transformation: Shaping a major IT Transformation program for a client and running the Program Management Office of a major change program to deliver business and technology initiatives
- To have a broader perspective of potential issues encountered when managing diverse teams and the strategies to overcome them; have a clear understanding of the firm’s commitment to creating a more inclusive culture
Requirements
Candidates require a combination of management, consultancy, project delivery and technical skills. You will be expected to demonstrate that you have experience of working with IT clients and helping to deliver projects and programs for them.
You will:
Relationship / Market Growth
- Possess a strong commercial acumen and be able to demonstrate a track record of creating, selling and delivering large scale engagements
- Develop new and sell-on sales opportunities by promoting Deloitte propositions, capabilities and maintaining on-going client relationships
- Act as a market maker by bringing in new, profitable clients to Deloitte
- Lead bids and manage the sales/negotiation process through to signing of the engagement letter
- Possess advanced negotiation skills
- Develop a personal contact network across Deloitte and in the global marketplace
Client Service Delivery
Be able to effectively shape, plan and staff engagements
Lead large engagements or a portfolio of smaller engagements; (size and fees vary by Senior Manager or Director grade)
Take responsibility for engagement financials, including client billing and cash collection
Have a strong understanding of Risk Management and how to protect the interests of both the client and Deloitte
Understand how to build teams to get the right mix of people and capabilities to best serve the client and strengthen the relationship
Have a broader perspective of potential issues encountered when managing diverse teams and the strategies to overcome them; have a clear understanding of the firm’s commitment to creating a more inclusive culture
Quality, Innovation and Brand
Support the continued growth of the business through contributing to the wider development of the Technology practice (e.g. supporting the development of propositions, offering, training, marketing, communications and recruitment activities)
Lead or play a key role in co-ordinating an area of Technology practice development (e.g. Training, Marketing, Communications or Recruitment)
Deliver the Talent Contract
Take a selfless interest in the development, success (and happiness) of engagement team members working for you
Support the career development of others by acting as a mentor or counsellor to a group of Technology consulting staff
