The individual has specialist knowledge of Oracle Applications and deep experience in leading the design, build, testing and deployment of Oracle E-business Suite solutions. The role will focus on ensuring successful delivery of projects from a client, commercial and individual team member perspective for their particular competency. This will involve supporting sales activity, advising on the required effort and skills to deliver projects, QA of deliverables, regular progress and readiness reviews with the Hitachi project manager and senior client staff. The successful applicant will use their skills in managing clients, motivating teams, problem solving, Oracle implementation experience and commercial skills to deliver defined business outcomes for both clients and Hitachi Consulting.

The Finance Competency Director can expect to:

The responsibilities include:

  • Management
    • Weekly review of delivery resourcing needs and placements
    • Monthly review of utilisation with Competency Lead
    • Cross practice/geography collaboration on delivery initiatives
    • Monthly reporting on the status of delivery projects for the Competency
  • Sales
    • Contribute to pre-sales work including bid responses and client presentations / demonstrations
    • Provide input to bid estimation and proposal development
    • Point of contact for bid material
    • Support the BID approval process
    • Attend (or delegate to team to attend) OUG Meetings
  • People
    • Identify skills gaps and resourcing needs
    • Interviews and technical approval for Competency candidates and all GDC resource interviews
    • Manage delivery team (the level of line management may vary between competencies)
    • Develop and manage staff development plans
    • Career Advisor to a number of consultants aligned to this competency and help develop others to become Career Advisors
    • Ensure compliance with competency training plan.
    • Point of contact for certification plans
    • Develops project Goals for Project Reviews that are skill & IP enhancing
  • Delivery
    • PCL on selected accounts / projects (where Director level)
    • Solution Architect on selected accounts
    • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with project team members and key client stakeholders
    • QA review of all client deliverables relating to their Competency Centre
    • Develop Hfusion methodology and Go To Market initiatives
    • QA all Go To Market plans and material
    • Support production of change requests and extension proposals
    • Initial project resourcing contact
    • Interviews and technical approval for associates
    • Harvest reusable IP
    • Trouble-shooter for key clients
    • Review and provide timely recommendations on escalated risks and issues
  • Innovation
    • SME for product roadmap for products in that competency
    • Develop Innovation offerings – Fusion, emerging markets
    • Comply and enhance Hitachi’s best practice implementation approach and supporting tools
    • Prepare white papers internally and externally (e.g. UKOUG)

Required experience and Technical Skills:

  • E-Business Suite (2+ years R12 experience, 5+ years pre R12 experience)
  • Excellent understanding of competency modules in R12
  • Excellent understanding of competency business process
  • Excellent understanding of full project life cycle and Oracle Implementation methodologies including AIM
  • Excellent client management and communication (written and oral) skills
  • Experience in estimating, planning and reporting on project delivery
  • Good understanding of fusion applications
