Role Focus
Working as an experienced member of a team supporting consultants and actuaries in all aspects of pensions consulting and actuarial work. Studying for the actuarial professional qualification or qualified.
Typical key activities:
- Attends and participates in client meetings with consultants.
- Proactively manages the completion and timely delivery of client work.
- Formulates views and provides input to client advice.
- Delivers directly to clients on relevant issues
- Follows and encourages others to follow all relevant compliance procedures
- Is a key contact for an on a number of clients.
- Acts as project manager for a range of projects and manages workflow for particular accounts.
- Delegates work to more junior colleagues. Acts a mentor to, and helps develop junior colleagues, including providing teachnical support.
- Works with our Retirement Service Centre, Speciality Groups and other Mercer businesses to deliver a streamlined service to clients.
- Deals with queries received from clients, scheme members, third parties and other Mercer businesses.
- Supports the consultant in preparing client bills.
- May act as a senior supporter on larger clients.
Qualifications
Qualifications & Knowledge Required
- The successful candidate will be studying towards or qualified for the Actuarial Professional Qualifcation
- Will be educated to degree level with a minimum 2:1 degree.
- Broad understanding of how UK pensions schemes operated and an understanding of the UK Pensions Act with the ability to interpret rules and awareness of what they mean for client work.
- Excellent planning and organisational ability in order to prioritiseans complete work in accordance to deadlines.
- Good analytical skills and ability to work through tasks in a logical manner.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong IT skills with good working knowldge of Microsoft Office, in particular Excel
