Hence it is currently aggressively expanding the Performance Improvement practice, and in particular is looking to recruit individuals with well developed consulting skills and good knowledge of Asset Management.

With the recent credit crisis, the Financial Services industry is experiencing an unparalleled degree of change. Driven by customers, regulators and shareholders, Ernst & Young's clients are re-evaluating their business models and embarking on major transformation programmes to deliver the operational and technology infrastructure required. The Asset Management sector in particular is seeing major change and hence demand for consulting services spanning front office, operations, finance, risk, IT, regulatory, tax and programme management.

Ernst & Young's Performance Improvement practice is looking to further grow its Asset Management team. It has already attracted significant senior talent from both industry and consulting to drive the growth of this business, and is now looking to hire a number of high calibre individuals at Manager level.

Responsibilities: 

Our team will be to analyse, design, recommend and implement performance improvement solutions for our valued Asset / Investment Management clients on the following areas

  • OTC and ETD Derivatives (including central counterparty clearing)
  • UCITS IV
  • Asset management systems and technology architecture
  • Operational outsourcing and service provider selection
  • Data management in asset management
  • Front office systems and processes

Your responsibilities as a Senior Manager:

  • Managing a portfolio of clients and assignments and/or leading major assignments;
  • Developing long-term trusted advisor relationships and managing key EY accounts;
  • Identifying opportunities for and securing new business;
  • Leading proposals and bid teams;
  • Managing the development and delivery of high quality proposals;
  • Monitoring staff availability and chargeability and supporting the development of less utilised staff;
  • Providing quality assurance and monitoring risks;
  • Managing assignment teams and third parties;
  • Liaising with service line teams, functional specialists and Area Partners;
  • Acting as a career counsellor to a small team and being involved in the recruitment process as required.

To be successful in these roles, you will require the following:

Industry Experience

  • Successful track record in asset management or asset servicing gained through a top tier consultancy (Big 4, IBM, Accenture etc..), a specialist financial services consultancy or a top tier Asset manager
  • Appreciation of current market trends in asset management, asset servicing and funds
  • Track record of successful delivery on projects for asset management clients (for Manager level, in project management or team leadership roles)
  • Good experience of one or more of the following: OTC / ETD derivatives processes, front office processes, investment operations, fund accounting, outsourcing

Profile and Skills

  • Ambition to build / develop a career in advising asset management clients
  • Strong interest and commitment to developing and delivering leading edge solutions to asset management industry clients
  • Shows potential to develop strong client relationships
  • Intellectual strength / flexibility to rapidly understand complex problems and rationalise these into a workable solution which can then be delivered
  • Ability to develop and deliver high quality output against stated project objectives and meet tight deadlines
  • High level of drive, commitment to achieving solutions, and ability to work under pressure
  • Ability to develop impactful written presentations and participate effectively in meetings with senior clients
  • Team player who openly supports, encourages and shares knowledge with colleagues
  • Ability to work under limited supervision ("self starter") in unstructured environments
  • Excellent graduate level education
  • Flexibility to travel to, and work in, other locations is essential

Technical Skills

  • Understanding of asset management functions and processes in Operations and inter-relationships with Front Office, Service Providers
  • Experience of one or more asset management applications and understanding of overall software development lifecycle would be advantageous
  • Operations change management / transformation experience, including an understanding of IT, spanning some / all of the following areas:
  • Operating Model Design - Target Operating Model, Business Operating Model, Organisational Design, Functional Architecture, Locational Model, Application Architecture, Sourcing Models, Onshoring / Offshoring, Insourcing / Outsourcing
  • Process Improvement - Business Process Re-engineering (BPR), Business Process Transformation, Workflow, Exception Processing, Process Control Review and Design, Six Sigma, Lean, Process Modelling, Process Mapping, Process Flow Definition & Design,
  • Business Requirements Definition - Functional Requirements Definition, Use Case Definition, System / Package Requirements Definition, Business Analysis, Vendor Selection
  • Data Architecture, Data Quality and Data Governance Process Review / Design
  • Business Case Design - Cost / Benefit Analysis, Numeric Analysis, Scenario Analysis
  • Roadmap Design - Project / Programme Planning, Estimation, Prioritisation
