Business Development Manager - Banking and Capital Markets

The Business Development Manager is responsible for building strong commercial and long term relationships with prospects and clients within Banking & Capital Markets, particularly with our key accounts. The aim of the role is to build our key and target relationships and expand our footprint within these accounts. The role will be part of the UK and firm-wide Financial Services team. 

The candidate should possess:

  • Ten or more years’ experience in or with Banking & Capital Markets with primary focus on retail banking, private banking and corporate banking and relevant products & services (current accounts, mortgages, loans, savings & investments, cards & payments, transaction banking) and relevant front office/back office functions (product management, marketing, sales, network/channels/branches, operations, risk & compliance, IT). Investment banking and asset management experience plus related products and functions are a plus
  • Minimum of seven years’ consulting experience with a major business consulting firm 
  • Strong relationships at C-level
  • Proven track record in generating new business, developing new key accounts and delivering profitable industry / customer sector growth in Banking & Capital Markets
  • Good understanding of proposition development, proposal development and high impact client presentations
  • Exceptional customer awareness, long term relationship building and sales skills including account planning, account marketing and brand building
  • Excellent communication, consultative selling and negotiation skills
  • Experience in the following areas: digital transformation, customer management, operational strategy, risk & compliance, IT strategy & transformation, information management
  • Team player with the ability to deliver projects and to work within integrated, multi-disciplinary project teams

Key Responsibilities:

  • Working with other Senior Managers / Directors to market, sell and deliver engagements
  • Accountable to the Partner responsible for Banking & Capital Markets in the UK
  • Building deep and long lasting client relationships to enhance the reputation of BearingPoint as a trusted advisor and generate ongoing revenues
  • Maximise contact with key accounts, key contacts and other critical people across the group and focus efforts to obtain new work and generation of new enquiries for BearingPoint
  • Manage Sales & Business Development process / pipeline for BearingPoint to ensure we achieve our Banking & Capital Markets sales targets
  • Ensure that BearingPoint is on relevant tender lists and preferred supplier lists
  • Manage the internal tender process & lead RFP responses
  • Provide input to marketing plan
  • Represent BearingPoint at seminars & conferences
