Professional services firm Deloitte is working on plans to double its workforce in Cardiff, Wales, in the next three years, according to the Welsh platform Walesonline. Deloitte will do so by offering 500 extra jobs on top of its current recruitment efforts, a plan that will provide a significant boost to Cardiff's enterprise zone and financial and professional consulting sector.
Deloitte in Wales
At present, consulting firm Deloitte has just over 300 people working out of its Cardiff offices, and states that it wants to continue to invest and grow its presence in Wales. In line with its expansion plans, the firm is currently recruiting back office staff in Cardiff*, and aims to grow its headcount to 500 in the coming 8 months. On top of this, Deloitte has plans to recruit 500 additional professionals in the next three years, leading to a workforce of around 1,000 by 2017. The fill these jobs, Deloitte will target graduates and employ its close ties with the universities in the Cardiff Capital Region.
The investment by Deloitte in Wales is supported by the Welsh Government and led by Deloitte Senior Partner Wayne Harvey, and illustrates a great vote of confidence in Wales's financial and professional advisory sector, says Walesonline.
Deloitte’s UK expansion
Deloitte’s expansion plan, accompanied by its investment, in the Wales region is the second big expansion of Deloitte in the UK. The consulting firm has also announced to invest £30 million in Northern Ireland to create 338 jobs in that region, on top of its earlier expansion of 177 jobs. With both expansions in place, Deloitte will have significantly expanded its footprint in the UK.
