Global research and consulting firm Ecorys has appointed Manon Janssen as Chief Executive Officer and Chair of its Board of Management. Janssen joins from sustainability consultancy Ecofys, where she spent the past five years as Managing Director.
Manon Janssen has significant knowledge and experience in consulting and the industry. From 2010 to 2015 she acted as CEO and Managing Director of Ecofys, an international consultancy specialised in (sustainable) energy and climate change. Prior to that she worked for Philips – in her most recent role as Chief Marketing Officer of the Lighting Division she was responsible for the unit’s global marketing and innovation activities. She played a major role in the launch of ‘a simple switch’ and ‘EcoVision’ – two well-known sustainability programmes of Philips Lighting – and was responsible for several green innovations, including LED solutions. Earlier in her career Janssen served Electrolux, where she restructured the portfolio of brand to better meet customer needs, and Procter & Gamble, where she led brands such as Pampers, Always and Dreft, working in different countries and cultures.
Per 1 September 2015 Janssen decided to accept a new challenge, and has been named CEO and Chair of Ecorys, an international research and advisory firm focused on economic, social and spatial development topics. Ecorys, established in 2000 following the merger between UK-based ECOTEC and Netherlands-based NEI Kolpron, has a team of roughly 550 experts, conducting projects in more than 100 countries.
“We welcome Manon Janssen to Ecorys as CEO and Chair of the Board of Management, working together with Peter van der Meij*” says Hein Schreuder, Chairman of the Supervisory Board. “Her management expertise, leadership qualities and customer focus will be invaluable in leading Ecorys to the next phase of profitable growth and expansion, serving clients in the public sector as well as the private sector.”
Last year, Janssen was, in the Netherlands, named one of the 100 most influential professionals in the area of sustainability, a recognition she also received in 2012.
* Peter van der Meij, an alumnus of among others Ernst & Young Consulting and Capgemini Consulting, serves as Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Ecorys.
