International strategy and management consultancy A.T. Kearney has appointed Jungkiu Choi as the new Lead Partner of its Financial Institutions Practice in Asia Pacific. He takes over from Australian based Partner James Deighton.
Choi has more than 20 years of experience in the consulting industry and banking sector. Before joining A.T. Kearney he worked for seven years with Standard Chartered Bank as Group Head of Strategy, Head of Consumer Bank China and most recently, Group COO of Retail Banking. "Jungkiu brings with him a fantastic blend of practical experience based on his work in South Korea, China, Canada, the US and in Singapore both as a consultant and importantly in-house as a very senior financial services executive" says the leaving executive Deighton.
According to Choi, there are large untapped opportunities in the Asia Pacific market. "There is a mass of largely unbanked people in Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand and Myanmar who deserve the right economic and digital platform advice so they don't make the same mistakes other countries did”.
