Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has launched a new smartphone Big Data analysis app for the UK elections: ElectUK. With this app, users will be able to track and analyse Twitter conversations on the 2015 UK General Election, providing them with insightful information on the candidates, parties and political issues.
The ElectUK app has been developed by IT services, business solutions and consulting firm TCS to deliver digital insights on the UK General Election. ElectUK does this by taking data from millions of tweets and mentions about, and from, political parties, candidates and the electorate in the 2015 UK General Election. The data is run through TCS’s Big Data analytics software and is subsequently delivered back to the app as a range of share-able graphics. This allows users to track, analyse and visualise Twitter conversations about the 2015 UK General Election, turning their smartphone into a Big Data social media analytics tool.
User will be able to:
- View a ranking of the UK’s most talked about candidates and parties
- Monitor and compare positive and negative sentiment about both individual candidates and parties
- Identify the most talked about political issues, as well as the parties and candidates most closely associated with them
- Access a geographic breakdown of party mentions, positive and negative sentiment and key election issues
Commenting on the app, Shankar Narayanan, Country Head UK & Ireland at TCS, says: “ElectUK uses Big Data to give voters, politicians and commentators greater insight into the online conversations shaping the election debate, in an easy-to-consume, interactive and visual way. We hope ElectUK encourages UK voters to engage with the process. We’ve even included a button to help people register to vote, because we believe that digital technology can and should help bring about a more informed and engaged voter.”
Satya Ramaswamy, Global Head of TCS Digital Enterprise, adds: “Digital is indeed a formidable force which can benefit the community. ElectUK demonstrates how Digital technologies can be used to deliver real insights, directly into the hands of users. The app is powered by TCS’ PeriVistaTM Big Data analytics technology, which was created to help businesses combine previously siloed datasets from within and outside into an accurate and comprehensive view of customers.”
